Exhibition at La Capella: "Neither created nor destroyed"
From 3 April to 18 May 2014, La Capella hosted the exhibition Neither created nor destroyed, presenting the eleven works produced in the third and fourth editions of the initiative, accompanied by documentation recording the main creative stages in each.
“Neither Created Nor Destroyed. IN RESIDENCE Exhibition” is a show which explores the different degrees of mutual infiltration that exist between education, training and contemporary practices in art through works produced as part of the third and fourth editions of the IN RESIDENCE programme (the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 academic years, respectively).
The exhibition features eleven new works by artists engaged in different artistic fields, such as design, dramaturgy, the visual arts and contemporary dance. These artists shared their creative processes with ESO secondary school pupils and teachers over the course of an academic year.
In “Neither Created nor Destroyed”, spectators visit a series of places from which they are invited to meditate on the idea of space. They can also experience space for themselves, through everyday materials and situations, just as the artists and pupils did, using the local environment and readily-available resources. Some of these resources (such as classrooms, the body, parks and the museum) were tangible and physically recognisable. Others (memory, words, the economic system and the imagination, for example), were abstract in nature. All in all, an opportunity to think about on knowledge, creativity and culture as an indestructible driving force for transformation and creating the future.
