The occupation of a space, the void and movement. ‘Contamination’ session with Natalia Domínguez, iN RESiDENCE at the Institut Verdaguer secondary school
iN RESiDENCE continues with new ‘contamination’ sessions. The protagonists of the session held on 8 February were the 4th-year students from the Institut Verdaguer secondary school, together with the artist Natalia Domínguez, who opened their creation process inspired on the globe and space.
The session took place in the school’s playground and was attended by both the teaching staff as well as lots of students who were curious to know what it was all about. To start, the group set up an installation-performance made up of bin bags tied together which represented the space occupied by the school’s drawing classroom.
All of a sudden, these plastic bags were inflated and formed the shape of a globe which symbolised the occupation of space, the void and the air that surrounds us, and which was complemented by some fans set in motion by the students, making reference to movement and the globe as a fun and symbolic element.
However, the students’ act didn’t end here. The protagonists invited the teaching staff to come inside this living sculpture and see the reflection of space and movement represented inside it for themselves.
This is the fourth time that this school has participated in the iN RESiDENCE sessions. You can follow what’s happening in the sessions on Natalia Domínguez’s blog, iN RESiDENCE at the Institut Verdaguer secondary school.
