Antònia del Río (Majorca, 1983). Her projects focus on research into the mechanisms by which knowledge is transmitted and lost, establishing a constant dialogue between memory and oblivion. Through processes for the conservation of memory, she explores the construction of discourse, knowledge and thought.

In 2010, she received a grant for artistic production from the Suñol Foundation. This enabled her to create Xiu-xius en blanc, la biblioteca absent [Whispers in White, the Absent Library], which she presented at the Suñol Foundation's Nivell Zero exhibition space in 2011. Another outstanding work is Catedral [Cathedral], curated by Joana Hurtado, a project on the Chapel of Sant Roc (Valls). Antònia del Río has also shown her work at the Cap Vermell Centre in Cala Rajada (Majorca, 2010), at the Torre de Ses Puntes in Manacor (Majorca, 2010) and at the Casa de Cultura in Felanitx (Majorca, 2010).

The main collective exhibitions she has taken part in include Àmbits d'intrusió, at Can Felipa (Barcelona, 2012); Oficina 36: Exposició núm. 1, at The Private Space (Barcelona, 2011); Contextos Intermèdia, at Tecla Sala Art Centre (L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, 2010) and Estampa tentaciones (Madrid, 2009).

School Infanta Isabel d’Aragó

Institut Infanta Isabel d’Aragó, a secondary school in Sant Martí district, offers pupils the baccalaureate course in fine art. The school took part in the first edition of In Residence (2009-2010), when the artist Salvador Juanpere and a group of pupils in the fourth year of ESO compulsory secondary education taking the optional subject visual and fine art produced the piece Deu mil hores (Ten Thousand Hours].

The Infanta Isabel d'Aragó began its trajectory in 1962 to educate the boys and girls of the working-class families who had settled in the neighbourhood, which had been cut off in the urban expansion of Barcelona towards the Besòs River. According to the pedagogue and scientist Angeleta Ferrer (Barcelona, 1904 - 1992), teacher and director of the centre in its first years of operation, the Infanta Isabel "has always been an internally vibrant centre, constantly renewing itself and with an unsurpassable desire to improve".
