Arnau Sala IN RESiDENCE at the School Escola Trinitat Nova

Arnau Sala Saez is a musician and visual artist. His work moves between formats that feed into one another, such as music and sound, installations, painting and graphics: sound translates visual structures and shape is condensed into sound compositions. Through this habitat, Arnau Sala constructs a system in which the elements relate to one another through the same consciousness. Sala also limits his tools and ways of organising things to a few elements. The use of multiples of eleven or blue colour scales are a good example of this. These recurring elements form part of an imagery that allows him to represent his dualistic relationship with metaphysical phenomenology, i.e. between reason and faith. This duality between the wish to believe and scepticism generates a constant demythification of his own mythology. A significant number of his musical projects over the last ten years have reflected on consciousness and human perception, based on this dichotomous relationship. As Ex Continent, he presents live-sound projects where he offers installations in which sound, light and images coexist in the formal and conceptual planes. The project is inspired by some tendencies that study the current social context and its influence on human consciousness, a context that is written and developed through the narratives which global chaos, excess and confusion provide.

This is the second participation by IES Trinitat (Trinitat Nova, Nou Barris) in IN RESiDENCE. Isamit Morales was its resident in the eleventh edition (2019-2020). Once again, it is taking part with a group of 3rd-year compulsory secondary education (ESO) students.

The Institut Escola Trinitat Nova is a global educational project that is set up as a single educational centre (0-16 years) within the framework of wider socio-educational facilities and initiatives in the Trinitat Nova neighbourhood. The ieTN's approach links educational action to community action, as it is difficult for them to make complete sense if they are separate, and the more they are aligned, the more useful and interesting they become.
