Biel Llinàs IN RESiDENCE at the School Sant Andreu
The building that houses the school Institut Nou Barris, built as a result of the demands of civil society in the 1970s, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2023. Taking this anniversary as a starting point, the project will undertake a series of collective creative processes that explore the relationship between lived architecture and the student community, understanding both agents in a porous and contextual way.
Does school prepare us for life or is life itself what happens inside, as we go from year to year? What micro-stories underlie the school's history? How does it relate to the evolution of the city's newest neighbourhood? Can you fit 40 years of history into a notebook? These are some of the trigger questions that we will address through a series of bibliographical materials, archival images, fieldwork and collective speculation.
