Born in Cuzco (Peru) in 1985, in recent years Daniela Ortiz has concentrated her research particularly on migration and management in response to this phenomenon by host societies and states. 

Throughout her artistic career, Daniela Ortiz has focused basically on themes relating to immigration, the idea of nationality, work, the differences between social classes and gender issues. In her work, she aims to generate spaces of tension in which to explore these concepts, revealing the social function as a structure based on inclusion and exclusion.

She has taken part in collective exhibitions in Spain, the USA, Peru, Sweden, Romania and the Czech Republic, and has presented solo shows at Space 13 at the Miró Foundation (Barcelona), the Abelló Museum (Mollet del Vallès), Sala Muncunill (Terrassa) and the Àngels Barcelona (Barcelona) and 80M2 (Lima) galleries.

Daniela Ortiz received the Guasch Coranty grant from the University of Barcelona (2011) for her Habitaciones de servicio [Service Room] project, the CIFO grant (2012) for Distinción  [Distinction] and the BCN Producció grant to develop her project NN15.518 in cooperation with Xose Quiroga.
