David Bestué IN RESiDENCE at the School Secretari Coloma
FIRST VISIT TO THE NATIONAL ART MUSEUM OF CATALONIA
A series of activities and cultural visits enabled the group to focus on, contextualise and develop the work that David Bestué was doing within the context of his residency at Institut Secretari Coloma.
First visit to the National Art Museum of Catalonia (22/10/2013). The aim is to explore the museum from within. Besides visiting the modern art collection and the temporary exhibition Tàpies des de l'interior [Tàpies from the Inside], the group tours the offices and one of the reserve storage rooms at the museum.
EXHIBITION OF ART EXERCISES
An exhibition of the pupils' first artistic exercises (17/12/2013). In agreement with the group's teacher, David Bestué invited the pupils to carry out personal projects that would later form part of an exhibition at the school.
VISIT TO HANGAR
The visit to Hangar (19/11/2013) enabled the group to learn about an art factory, a centre linked to David Bestué's own creative processes, where the pupils met other artists in their workplaces.
SECOND VISIT TO THE NATIONAL ART MUSEUM OF CATALONIA
Visit to the sculpture reserves at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (22/4/2014).
David Bestué presents the works to the pupils, linking them to the twenty-one pieces selected from the museum storage rooms.
PUBLIC PRESENTATION AT THE SCHOOL
Public presentation of the residency at Institut Secretari Coloma. The presentation took place at 7 pm on 11 June 2014, attended by the pupils, teachers and families, as well as representatives from ICUB and Barcelona Education Consortium, and the two mediators from MNAC. At it, the pupils and teachers described their experience, and the artist David Bestué revealed the significance of his work 21 objectes [21 Objects]. Finally, snacks were served, enabling the participants to talk about the project with friends and families.
