Eu Manzanares IN RESiDENCE at the School Sants
In my view, everyone is a potential creator. Everyone has the power to imagine and therefore to create. Absolutely everyone. Everyone has important things to tell. Fascinating, curious, shocking, geeky, exciting, fun, sad, painful, terrifying, mind-blowing, joyful things, as well as a thousand other things. No one is uninteresting. Anyone has the ability to keep us totally hooked on some anecdote, experience or invention... if they know how to tell it.
For a long time, I was convinced that the things that happened to me, that I thought or imagined would be of no interest to anyone but myself or, at most, my inner circle of family and friends. Until I realised that if they were important or relevant to me, why couldn't they be important or relevant to many other people? Even for complete strangers and those far away from me. I just needed to learn how to give them creative value. And so, I did. First, understanding why this was important to me. Then, why I thought it was worth telling and sharing with others. And finally, learning how to tell my stories in an engaging way. And this is what I would like to be able to teach and share with other people.
So, we will start by looking within ourselves, by exploring what are the things that, for each of us, have an emotional, sentimental and, therefore, creative value. Whether because they excite us, hurt us or frighten us. This is where our journey will begin. Exploring our fears, our wounds and our dreams. Also, those oddities that set us apart from the rest and make us so very, very special. Sometimes even the smallest things can be real pearls.
Oh, and by the way! In the creative field, this is called "finding one's voice".
