School La Sedeta

This is the second time in a row that the La Sedeta School (Camp d'en Grassot, Gràcia) has taken part in IN RESiDENCE. The first edition hosted the creative process of Irena Visa, with the mediation of the Fundació Joan Miró de Barcelona and A Bao A Qu. In this edition, a group of 4th year secondary school students is taking part in the programme.

The school is set within the premises of the old Pujol i Casacuberta textile factory, known as La Sedeta for its silk fabric production, which closed down in 1975. At that time, an intense community movement led the Town Council to expropriate the site occupied by the factory, thus halting the project for the construction of housing by a banking institution, and the start of the current equipment project. The factory site, which is part of the historical and artistic heritage of the city of Barcelona, now houses the La Sedeta Primary School, the La Sedeta Secondary School (opened in 1983) and the La Sedeta Civic Centre.
