Las Cosas IN RESiDENCE at the School Narcís Monturiol
Using our own body, through performing activities, we engage in a collective, situated research-creation process. Our aim is to develop a critical reflection from practice on how we move through and inhabit the places where we find ourselves, and how we relate to everything that shapes us.
In the school and generational context provided by IN RESiDENCE, these interests question themes that the group will explore and develop from their own concerns: individual and collective identity, coexistence and community, the ecological view of the systems of which we are a part, how to share desires and carry out ideas through collective power.
Starting with physical, sensorial and somatic experiments and games, we get in touch with space. By choosing the relationships that exist there, the (co-)creative potential emerges. From this point on, a shared physical language is constituted, something that begins to make sense: bodies synchronise in a way of being, they understand where and how they can move, they discover how to communicate through action and invite the collaboration of other bodies. The materials (things, people, stories, waste) begin to reveal their potential for expression. Ephemeral installations appear, from minimal gestures to great architectural transformations; from silence to play, to construction with materials, to interaction with other people.
During this exploration-creation, and following the wishes of the group, we will investigate different places in and around the school, looking for spaces for interaction. These will be susceptible to the changes proposed by the group: their bodies will change the ways of being and moving around, the stories will fall from the virtual to the physical plane, making the space speak; the installations will offer passers-by other ways of looking at their surroundings, relating to each other, attending to their own bodies, being aware of what accompanies or fascinates them.
