Martín Vitaliti IN RESiDENCE at the School Viladomat
http://www.martinvitaliti.netMartín Vitaliti (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1978) is a visual artist and his work is an investigation into the logic of representation. His work has focused on an analysis of the verbo-iconic narration of comics, in order to reflect on this language as another narrative construction of contemporary art. He uses a methodology akin to appropriation, where he borrows subcultural references, which allows him to examine the creative process and demythologise, approaching themes such as quotations, authorship, creation, reproduction and originality, while also paying tribute to these graphic-novel authors.
The formats he uses to develop his work include images, installations, videos and publications. These publications include Líneas cinéticas (Save As... Publications, 2009), Didascalias (Save As... Publications, 2013) and Fondos (Save As... Publications, 2013), a trilogy about graphic resources for representing time and space in comics; and “360º” (Arts Libris - Walther König, 2016), a publication which, through the cinematographic resource of panning, reconstructs the frozen space inhabited by characters; Sin Coordenadas (2018) published by Tren en Movimiento; Action Comics Detournement (2019) published by FerranElOtro Editor.
His most recent exhibitions include the following:
9:12/3, Barcelona Gallery Weekend, Composiciones programa curatorial (Barcelona, 2017); Los dos pañuelos de Diana, Galería etHALL (Barcelona, 2017); #134, in the exhibition “If Walls Are Trembling”, Lisa Kandlhofer Galerie (Vienna, 2016); En otro lugar [The Other Place], in the exhibition “Casa-estudio-calle-barrio”, CentroCentro (Madrid, 2016) Light Ink, at the Fummeto Comix-Festival (Lucerne, 2016); #121, Document Art Gallery (Buenos Aires, 2015); #71, in the exhibition “Microfísica del dibujo, Espazo Normal” (A Coruña, 2015); … , Galería etHALL (Barcelona, 2014); En el fondo nada ha cambiado… [In the end nothing has changed] Museo ABC (Madrid, 2013); #17, in the exhibition “Generación 2013”; La casa encendida [House on Fire] (Madrid, 2013); #56, in the 8th Leandre Cristòfol Art Biennale, La Panera Art Centre (Lleida, 2013).
His work can be found in public and private collections such as Frac Corza, the Caja Madrid Foundation, the Spanish National Library, the Icart Collection, the La Panera Art Centre Collection, the Banc Sabadell Collection, the Frances Reynolds Collection, the Nion McEvoy Collection and the Jorge Rais Collection, among others.
