Rafa Castañer IN RESiDENCE at the School Manuel Vázquez Montalbán
rafacastaner.comRafa Castañer (Barcelona, 1971)
I am an artist who uses different angles together, from which I develop
a narrative, a space-time with its own shape and form each time.
Drawing, cinema, comic, painting, music and performance are used in different ways in each project, to communicate a journey and tell a story. Together they build a bridge to the spectator. They are both scenic and expository.
Simultaneously, and often with my work involved, I very much enjoy the role of teacher and artistic mediator. I am committed to offering all my skills and strategies in this area, this time at the service of the people who are there and who call on me to accompany them.

School Manuel Vázquez Montalbán
www.institutmvm.catThe Institut Manuel Vázquez Montalbán (Sant Adrià de Besòs) is taking part in EN RESiDÈNCiA for the first time.
During the 1980s, two important buildings were built in Sant Adrià, practically next to each other: the Escola Catalunya and, subsequently, the Institut Sant Adrià del Besòs, which in 2004 was renamed the Institut Manuel Vázquez Montalbán. Both buildings were designed by the architect Oriol Bohigas (1925-2021).
The current name of the Institut has to do with the figure of the writer Manuel Vázquez Montalbán (1939-2003), as a permanent tribute to his status as a chronicler of the life that takes place on the edges of cities and in the most invisible and forgotten places in everyday stories.
