Rafa Castañer (Barcelona, 1971)
I am an artist who uses different angles together, from which I develop
a narrative, a space-time with its own shape and form each time.
Drawing, cinema, comic, painting, music and performance are used in different ways in each project, to communicate a journey and tell a story. Together they build a bridge to the spectator. They are both scenic and expository.
Simultaneously, and often with my work involved, I very much enjoy the role of teacher and artistic mediator. I am committed to offering all my skills and strategies in this area, this time at the service of the people who are there and who call on me to accompany them.

School Manuel Vázquez Montalbán
www.institutmvm.catDuring the 1980s, two important buildings were built in Sant Adrià, practically side by side: the Catalunya School and, in a second phase, the Sant Adrià del Besòs Secondary School, which in 2004 was renamed the Manuel Vázquez Montalbán Secondary School. Both buildings were designed by the architect Oriol Bohigas (1925-2021). The current name of the school is associated with the writer Manuel Vázquez Montalbán (1939-2003), in permanent homage to his status as a chronicler of the life that takes place on the outskirts of cities and in the most invisible spaces forgotten by the usual narratives.
