Roc Esquius

Roc Esquius (Súria, 1982)

He is an author, actor and director. After graduating in Computer Engineering at the UAB (2004) and in Dramatic Arts at the Estudi Nancy Tuñón (2011), he completed his formative years as an author at the Sala Beckett. He worked at Davantis, an Artificial Intelligence start-up, for five years before devoting himself to theatre. His plays include “iMe” (2014), “El Catalon d’una nit d’estiu” (2015), “Mars Joan” (2015), “Els pastorets de la Martina” (2016), “Claqué o no” (2017), “Sàpiens” (2017), “ELI” (2018), “Likes” (2018), “L’Altre” (2019), “Angle Mort” (written with Sergi Belbel, 2020), “Els Pastorets de casa nostra” (2020) and “Els Rapinyaires” (2022). 

His plays have been directed by Sergi Belbel, Antonio Calvo, Lluís Elías, Nelson Valente and himself. He has directed theatrical productions by other authors and has created and written audiovisual fiction, including his work as co-writer of ‘Si no t'hagués conegut’ and his own short films ‘Coronfinats’ (2020), ‘Cremem les naus’ (2022) and ‘Pan y vino’ (2023).

The author combines playwriting and directing with acting, both in theatre in “Això ja ho he viscut2 (2019), “Un concert a la Casa Blanca” (2023) and “Les Roses de la vida” (2017) and in audiovisuals in “La Riera” (2015-2018), “H0US3” (2019) and “Usted dirà” (2022). He also works in teacher training, as a regular teacher of theatre staging, acting and dramaturgy (at Auténtica, l'Ídem, Hola Teatre and I+D). He is also a private consultant for dramaturgy and directing. He currently lives in Barcelona's Clot neighbourhood.

School Escola Eixample

This is the fourth time that the Escola Eixample School (la Dreta de l'Eixample) has taken part in IN RESiDENCE. Following the creative processes of David Franch with the support of Teatre Lliure (2021-2022), Urati laboratori (2022-23) and Juana Dolores (2023-24), with the support of the Centre de les Arts Lliures de la Fundació Joan Brossa, they are once again taking part in the programme with a group of third-year secondary school students.

The educational project of the Escola Eixample School, created in 2020 from the integration of the former Immaculada Concepció School into the public network of educational centres in Barcelona, in a neighbourhood with a high demand for public places, is based on contemporary creation.
