Salvador Juanpere IN RESiDENCE at the School Infanta Isabel d’Aragó

TEN THOUSAND HOURS

“Facing this experience with 15-16 year-old students of secondary education is a challenge arousing singular variables in a common artistic process. Boys and girls included in the work team of the high-school Institut Infanta Isabel d’Aragó, together with the involved teaching staff, shall contribute in the execution of this work of art, but they will also bring about essential meaning. Their education context, their training, their dynamics and their energy make up a range of references which I will try to use when imagining, projecting and producing this work of art.

As Arthur Koestler said, every work of art aims at interweaving some aspects of reality which have apparently nothing to do. The general context of education of these young people, the specific reality at Institut Infanta Isabel d’Aragó with its careful approach to visual and plastic arts, my current state of mind as a creator, some theoretical references about learning which I have been reading out of self-interest, a certain literary text that A Bao A Qu’s project has led me to read… All these circumstances interact and let me weave the idea of this project.

This formal project does not reject the constants of my recent works, but it is enriched by the contribution of new stimuli thanks to the pilot experience of being an artist iN RESiDENCE. This innovative experience emphasizes the process decantation and the execution of art towards relational poetry and its insertion in the tissue of our reality.

My challenge is achieving a transversal level of satisfaction with 10.000 hours. I wish that all the producers of this work of art can identify a collective sense of authorship, that is, a collective sense of personal growth and education.”
