School Escola Turó de'n Caritg
https://agora.xtec.cat/ieturodencaritg/This is the second consecutive participation of the Turó d'en Caritg School (La Salut, Badalona) in IN RESiDENCE. During its first participation, it hosted the creative process of “L’Escorxador Tremola”, by Constanza Brnčić, presented at the Centre Cultural L’Escorxador, within the framework of the Badalona May Festivities, and subsequently at the Tres Xemeneies in Sant Adrià de Besòs, in the context of “Manifiesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitana”. This year, Turó d'en Caritg is taking part in the programme with a group of 4th year secondary school students.

The Escola Turó d'en Caritg School was set up during the 2019-2020 school year as a result of the merger of the Escola Alexandre Galí School and the Baetulo School, although its origins date back to 1968, when the Basic General Education centre was built in response to the need to provide schooling for the population of the La Salut neighbourhood. The merger of the two centres, adopting the model of ‘Institut Escola’, has made it possible to work on a common project that adapts to the educational needs of children and young people in the neighbourhood.
After a participatory process, the centre changed its name in 2021, adopting the name Turó d'en Caritg, in reference to its location, almost at the top of the small hill (now converted into an urban park) which, at 71 m high, stands out for being the second highest point in the Sierra de Mena mountain range. A branch of the Via Augusta passed very close to the hill, and there was an early Christian necropolis around it.
