Toni Mira (Barcelona, 1957)

He studied up to the fifth year of Architecture at the Barcelona School of Architecture, and graduated in Contemporary Dance at the School of Dance and Choreography of the Barcelona Theatre Institute. Since graduating and up to the present day, he has worked as an actor and dancer in various dance and theatre companies in the city. 

In 1987, together with Clàudia Moreso, he created the dance company ‘Nats Nus’, which has produced around thirty shows, both for adults and for all audiences, which have been performed in more than twenty countries. He has been guest choreographer in several European contemporary dance companies. He has also worked as a choreographer in many musicals and theatre and music shows in the city, and has given courses and workshops on dance, choreography and video techniques applied to performance in several European cities. He has been a choreographer in many children's television programmes, as well as an actor in several television series. 

Since 2006, he has been working on numerous choreographic and educational projects with children and teenagers, as well as with groups at risk of exclusion. He also combines this choreographic and educational work with directing dance or music shows, as well as creating and performing “mappings” on walls, with the incorporation of dancers or other groups performing live. He is an active founding member of the creative space La Caldera, which won the National Dance Award in 2005. Toni Mira has also been awarded the City of Barcelona Dance Prize 2009 and the National Dance Prize 2010.

Toni Mira is back to participate in IN RESiDENCE, after having participated in the 8th edition (2016-2017), at the Josep Comas i Solà School (Trinitat Vella, Nou Barris, Barcelona), with a group of students of 3rd and 4th secondary school, under the mediation of Graner-Mercat de les Flors. As a result, “NOSOTROS” was presented at the Mercat de les Flors (2017) and, subsequently, at the collective exhibition “Aquí hem trobat un espai per pensar. 10 anys EN RESiDÈNCiA” (2019, Fabra i Coats: Centre d'Art, Barcelona).
