Víctor Jaenada IN RESiDENCE at the School Les Corts
QUO VADIS - ON VAS [WHERE ARE YOU GOING?]
QUO VADIS - ON VAS [WHERE ARE YOU GOING?]
This work is an installation in which the classical and contemporary worlds “converse” on such universal themes as love, death and power. The focal point of the space is a 2.5 x 5 metre photograph printed on wallpaper in which the fourteen pupils appear. In this image, we can see a host of elements from classical world and from the imagination of a twenty-first-century teenager, as well as references to the themes and interests that concern the artist and which have been a source of research throughout the course. This image is accompanied by a series of objects and residues from the threads that have been woven together between the present and antiquity: from a sandwich wrapped in foil to a video in which the boys and girls recite love songs by Manuel Alejandro, from a spinner to some grapes.
